The Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) has been pre-informed that Tetra Pak Jurong Pte Ltd (Tetra Pak) will be engaging in an exercise to consolidate its Singapore-based production into its other factories over the next 12 months, which will impact about 300 workers. The company will also be relocating its corporate office in Singapore to a new location by the end of the year, with a capacity of up to 250 people.
Tetra Pak is unionised under the FDAWU in Singapore and both have a good longstanding labour-management relationship dating back to 1993. For this exercise, the company has been working closely with the union to assist affected workers, who will receive retrenchment support packages in line with unionised norms. In addition, affected workers will benefit from numerous good practices (monetary and non-monetary), following the union’s discussions with the company. Tetra Pak assures the union that it treats all its employees fairly and all affected workers are treated with respect and dignity.
